Write simple stores week 2 In Cert3 Media(degital) part 2
Creative writing
There are two parts to this exercise. Read both parts.
Then attempt Part II before you work on Part I.
Part I
You are to write a short story of 150 words. It can either be a complete story from beginning to end or an incident in a story. In either case it must contain the basic elements of story, namely a character and a reason for that character to be doing something or going somewhere (ie conflict).
In addition to this, your story must contain the following eight words in whatever order you decide: fate, procrastination, attack, radio, whisper, pride, knock, train
Part II
Before you begin, attempt the following “warm up” exercise. Its purpose is to inspire you to go ahead with your story. You can use this exercise to help you come up with a punchy first line or to develop a theme or a scenario for your story.
Write down 5 separate sentences in which you introduce a character and a reason for that character to perform an action. For this part of the exercise, don’t worry about using any particular words, like the eight mentioned above. Just use your creative imagination to come up with 5 different situations.
For example, “For as long as she could remember, all she had ever wanted was to be an opera singer in an East European country.”
Do not begin your story until you have first completed this warm-up exercise.
